NTANDO CELE

Born in 1980, Ntando Cele is a director, performer, and theatre maker hailing from South Africa. She graduated from Durban University of Technology in 2001 with a National Diploma in Drama Studies, and went on to obtain her Master of Theatre from DAS Theater Amsterdam in 2009 -2012. The Bern-based South African artist Ntando Cele has been developing theatre and performance projects in South Africa and Europe since 2013. Her works uniquely dissolve the boundaries between physical theatre, video installation, stand-up comedy, and performance in a virtuous manner. Creating Manaka Empowerment Prod with which she interrogates identity, racism, and stereotypes while speaking of the unspeakable from different perspectives humorously and charmingly.
